As a trans woman I think that...: A Short Essay on Transmisogyny

But but why would you wanna be a woman?! Why not, being a woman absolutely rules! Especially a trans woman, yet not everyone agrees especially those are absolutely against us. We debate, argue, and just ask the hard hitting questions. Are trans women women? Of course they are. Trans women are women!  This is what qualifies as ally-ship on twitter these days.  I get the intent though, and it is true– 100% and no falsehoods, however, it comes of as a meaningless platitude because it is backed up with no deeper thought or action. I have been reading Whipping Girl by Julia Serano and also TransGressive by Rachel Anne Williams, two books by trans women. The former is a foundational text for transfeminism and Serano's thesis is laying out transmisogyny as part of a core analytical theme of transmisogyny. It is a good read, provided you think like an academic, otherwise it is pretty dry. Think of my essay as the ketchup on a hamburger. So in this essay, I will provide a quick si...

Sighs-o-Plenty (Poem)

To my loved ones, Wake up cold and warm burning an aching numbing it’s a warning   My soul sighs and my mind freezes Why doth not it to myself appeases?   Cry, weep, and scream out your heart; these will be the best and worst part  Of mornings of mourning till still noon. Yet hours post Meridiem go too soon   Evening and cocktail hour are upon us; We pray to those who fight and not fuss  At night aim our hearts at truest targets, then after we shall know what it begets! ***  -Diana Beatrice Asteria Thank you for reading  Support independent arts and writing today on Patreon!

Lyrical Cosmos (Poem)

Image
by Brittany Diana Sing a song about life, write about your love, for this is your true power. From the sky, let the thunder of victory roar, the lightning flashes over. And the sun warms everything, as it rises and sets each day and night. Moon guides you with the sun’s reflection in each night with its might Stars above they are tiny worlds upon worlds sharing the fires of life Hunt the light’s fire of the sky, let the air blow, and let water come alive Earth is substance taking everything in earnest, but the ether is nothing Void and spirit are alike indeed, just like the animal’s mind and doing. Cosmos, chasms, space, let matter sing, fly, and march for all of time. Gods and Goddesses, give and show us your magic that is the sublime. Io natalis, for the sun, stars, earth, moon, and planets are all now born. Let life grow from, to, and on each plane, and grow like a field of corn. Fire, Air, Water, and Earth, the manifestations of all the spiritual matters, Of which life shall ...

Poems written in July 2021 by Miss Brittany Diana   Quid est homo? What is a man but a miserable pile of secrets? Said the vampire The humans are quite pathetic indeed, for that it will not inspire Quid homo est et quid est vir? Quis estes homini et estes animale? Nos non homines sumus, sed ego equa sine nome sum, non male! Si viri saparent sint, ad feminis transmutent, et bene maximale. To Remember Memories: A self-reflection on my past and present identities.

Image
Hello everyone, I am Diana Eakin, or that's what I have been calling myself for a couple years now. Though that was not always the case. I doubt any reader would know otherwise. I first created BDunicorn as a platform to express myself and build my portfolio as a writer, poet, essayist, so many things are ahead of me. Yet, having a plan is actually quite new to me. I'll explain why later. I have been thinking a lot about my life, how it went, how it is going, and how it will go in the future. In this piece, I want to explore memory, using my past and how it relates to myself now.  This is will be my bio-mytho-graphy, to borrow a phrase from Audre Lorde, who was introduced to be by the new and familiar Abigail Thorn of Philosophy Tube. At time of writing this, I had seen her most recent video called Identity: A trans coming out story. That was truly inspiring because I had resonated with almost everything she had said, and of course had loaded it with the philosophy So, first...
